Bánh Mì
Bánh Mì is a Vietnamese sandwich combining French baguette with savory meats, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and creamy mayo. Crunchy, juicy, and full of contrast.
Ingredients
Bread
4 small baguettes (light & crispy)
Protein (choose one or mix)
- 400 g grilled pork, chicken, or beef
- Vietnamese pork sausage (chả lụa)
Pickled Vegetables
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup shredded daikon
- ½ cup rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
Fresh Fillings
- Cucumber slices
- Fresh coriander (cilantro)
- Sliced chili (optional)
Sauces
- Mayonnaise
- Soy sauce or Maggi seasoning
Instructions
Pickle vegetables
- Mix vinegar, sugar, and salt.
- Add carrots and daikon.
- Rest 15 minutes.
Prepare protein
Grill or pan-fry protein until cooked and flavorful.
Prepare bread
- Lightly toast baguettes.
- Slice lengthwise without cutting through.
Assemble
- Spread mayonnaise inside bread.
- Add protein, pickled vegetables, cucumber, herbs, and chili.
- Season with soy sauce or Maggi.
Serve
Serve immediately while bread is crispy.

- Light baguette is key.
- Balance crunch, acidity, and richness.
- Pickles can be made ahead.
