Ingredients

  • ¼ cup (55 g) unsalted butter
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp (20 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp baking powder (optional)

Instructions

    Preheat oven

    • Preheat to 175°C / 350°F.
    • Line a 15 × 15 cm (6 × 6 inch) pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

    Melt butter

    • Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.

    Mix wet ingredients

    • In a bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until combined.
      Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.

    Add dry ingredients

    • Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder (if using).

    Combine gently]

    • Fold everything together until just combined. Do not overmix.

    Add extras (optional)

    • Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
    Bake

    • Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for 18–22 minutes.

    Cool & serve

    • Let brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into portions.

      Small Notes :

        • Do not overmix the batter to keep brownies tender.
        • Slightly underbaking gives a fudgier texture.
        • Let brownies cool completely before cutting for clean edges.
        • Add nuts, chocolate chips, or swirl with peanut butter for variation.
