Classic Chocolate Brownies
Brownies are a rich, chocolatey dessert with a dense, moist interior and a slightly crisp top. Made with cocoa, butter, and eggs, they deliver deep chocolate flavor in every bite. Depending on baking time, brownies can range from fudgy to chewy, making them a timeless favorite for all ages.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup (55 g) unsalted butter
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp (20 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
- ⅛ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp baking powder (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven
- Preheat to 175°C / 350°F.
- Line a 15 × 15 cm (6 × 6 inch) pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Melt butter
- Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
Mix wet ingredients
- In a bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until combined.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
Add dry ingredients
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder (if using).
Combine gently]
- Fold everything together until just combined. Do not overmix.
Add extras (optional)
- Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes.
Cool & serve
- Let brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into portions.

- Do not overmix the batter to keep brownies tender.
- Slightly underbaking gives a fudgier texture.
