Salmon Croquettes
Crispy on the outside and tender inside, these salmon croquettes combine flaky salmon with herbs, breadcrumbs, and spices for a quick, delicious dish perfect as an appetizer or main course.
Ingredients
For the Croquettes
- 2 cups cooked salmon, flaked
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
For Frying
3 – 4 tbsp oil (olive oil or vegetable oil)
Instructions
Prepare the mixture
In a bowl, combine:
- flaked salmon
- onion
- garlic
- egg
- breadcrumbs
- parsley
- lemon juice
- paprika, salt, and pepper
- mustard (optional)
Shape into small patties or oval croquettes.
Pan-fry
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Fry croquettes for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and crisp.
- Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve
- Serve warm with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, garlic mayo, or a fresh salad.
Small Notes :
- You can substitute breadcrumbs with mashed potatoes for a softer croquette.
- Add a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes for a spicy version.
- Bake instead of frying: 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 minutes, brushing with a little oil.
- Works great with leftover cooked salmon.
