Mouhalabieh
Mouhalabieh is a silky Middle Eastern milk pudding flavored with delicate floral notes of orange blossom or rose water. Light, refreshing, and effortlessly elegant.
Ingredients
Pudding
- 3 cups milk
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp orange blossom water or rose water
- 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
Topping
- Crushed pistachios (2–3 tbsp)
- Honey or a light syrup (optional)
Instructions
Mix the base
- In a saucepan (off the heat), whisk together:
milk + cornstarch + sugar until fully dissolved.
Cook
- Place the saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy (about 6–8 minutes).
- Add orange blossom water (or rose water) and vanilla.
- Stir for another 30 seconds, then remove from heat.
Serve
- Pour the mixture into 4 small bowls or cups.
- Let cool to room temperature.
Chill & Garnish
- Refrigerate at least 1–2 hours.
- Top with pistachios, honey, or a light syrup before serving.
Small Notes :
- For extra richness, substitute ½ cup milk with ½ cup heavy cream.
- Add a dash of cardamom for a twist.
- Serve with rose petals for a festive look.
